Memories of My Grandfather

by Donna Woolf

One of the biggest things I remember about grandpa was that he would give me a nickel for every white horse I saw. He not only would give me nickels when I was with him and saw a white horse (completely white), but I would write him from home in New York and tell him how many white horses I saw, and he would send me money.

Grandpa was so kind and gentle. I loved to be near him because of those wonderful qualities. I have so many fond memories of visiting his home on Pine Lane. One time when I was quite little, I went to church with grandpa and grandma. After church I was in the foyer and reached my hand up to hold grandpa's hand. After a few minutes I looked up and realized I was holding someone else's hand (probably somebody else's grandpa). I was so embarrassed and quickly found my own grandpa's hand to hold. I remember grandpa as being very tall.
